| This photograph shows a fashion trend called "loose socks" Many uniformed schoolgirls, whose appearance is otherwise strictly regulated wear "loose socks." Perhaps this is a holdover from the Flashdance legwarmer phase that Americans went through in the early 80's. Others speculate that the ankle is an unattractive feature. Special socks and adhesives are sold to enable one to have the loosest socks possible and still have them stay attached to the shins.
